About the album — “1984” is my second favorite Van Halen, coming up very short to their debut album filled with an assortment of classics. Though it doesn’t touch the 1978 classic (it’s just that great,  “1984” is a fantastic album.

The album’s first single, “Jump,” is played almost all the time at sporting events as well as fully utilizing the synthesizer movement in the 80’s. Follow-up tracks “Panama” and hidden gem “Top Jimmy” (as described by one of my Twitter followers) are must listens as well.

But the biggest success of this album, both musically and as a video is “Hot For Teacher.” HFT boasts one of the most influential, as well as controversial music videos of all time. Featuring a hot teacher and promoting sex between teacher and student, HFT brings out the listener and viewers inner thoughts that every adolescent has had for their teacher.

HFT is also a true Van Halen song, capturing the bluesy, hard rock that this band debuted with in 1978.
