In honor of 4/20 (I don’t smoke, don’t ask) I put in a classic Grateful Dead live album. “Live/Dead” was the first live album released by the grand daddy of jam bands and it’s brilliant. It’s a compilation of recordings from a handful of 1969 concerts.

It features a great 23-minute version of “Dark Star” to open that leads into one of my favorite Dead songs, “St. Stephen.”

If you’ve seen the terrible sequel to the classic Blues Brothers, you will recognize “Turn On Your Love Light,” a song older than Dan Aykroyd himself.

This is brief sampling of the magic the Grateful Dead did live in 60’s makes this a great album to listen to, on vinyl or on CD.
